Italian composer of mostly orchestral and chamber works that have been performed in Europe and North America.
Mr. Fazio studied guitar privately with Anselmo Bersano in Genoa from 1975–83 and studied fine arts with Corrado Maltese and literature from Italy with Edoardo Sanguineti, among other subjects, at the Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia of the Università degli Studi di Genova from 1979–84. He then studied composition with Paolo Arcà at the Conservatorio Giacomo Puccini in La Spezia from 1984–87, where he earned a degree in 1988, and studied composition with him privately in Rome in 1986–87. He later studied composition privately with Niccolò Castiglioni in Milan from 1988–91 and earned a degree at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan in 1990.
Among his honours are an honourable mention in the competition Camillo Togni in Brescia (1992, for Wen), the Prix in the category Computer-Assisted Musical Composition in the competition for musical software of the Institut International de Musique Électroacoustique de Bourges (1999, for his environment PRIE) and First Prize in the competition of the Quey Percussion Duo in East Hartford, Connecticut (2006, for Sonata). His music has been performed in Canada, Italy and the USA.
Mr. Fazio is also active in other positions. He was a founding member of the Orchestra Filarmonica Giovanile in Genoa in 1988 and served as a member of its artistic committee from 1988–90. He later worked as a software developer from 1993–2000.
