T he Living Composers Project  

Feraru, Tudor (b. 1976, Cluj-Napoca). Romanian composer of orchestral, chamber, choral, vocal, piano, and electroacoustic works that have been performed in Canada and Europe; he is also active as a pianist.

Mr. Feraru studied composition with Cornel Ţăranu and orchestral conducting with Petru Sbarcea at the Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, where he earned his BMus in both subjects in 2001. He studied composition with Omar Daniel at the University of Western Ontario in Canada from 2001–04, where he earned his MMus in 2003, and has studied composition with Stephen Chatman at the University of British Columbia since 2004, where he is working on his DMA.

Among his honors are two scholarships from the Sigismund Toduţă Foundation in Cluj-Napoca (1998, 2000), two grants to attend the masterclasses in Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic (1998–99) and the Full International Graduate Scholarship from the University of Western Ontario (2001–03).

As a pianist, he has performed in Canada and Romania and has often played his own music. He has also occasionally served as a conductor.

Musaţinii Edition in Suceava, Romania publishes some of his music.
