Hinds, Erik (b. December 2, 1972, Red Bank, New Jersey). American composer of chamber works that have been performed in the USA; he is also active as a guitarist.
Mr. Hinds began self-taught guitar studies at age twelve and is also self-taught as a composer, other than music theory training in high school.
He founded the record label Solponticello in 2001, which has since issued many recordings, and serves as its producer. He plays guitar and H'arpeggione, a special combination of Hardanger fiddle and arpeggione built by Fred Carlson in 2000, and is a member of the quartet SS Puft.
He currently works as a free-lance composer and occasionally as a music writer.
