THE LIVING COMPOSERS PROJECT  

Sehyung (Sergey) Kim

(b. 1987, Almaty).

Kazakh composer, now resident in Russia, of mostly chamber and electroacoustic works that have been performed in Europe.

Mr. Kim studied composition with Vladislav Agafonnikov at the P. I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow from 2007–12. He has studied composition with Beat Furrer at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz since 2013.

Among his honours are co-finalist in the competition DuoSolo in Texas (2010, for Daegeum sori) and co-finalist in the competition Step to the Left in Saint Petersburg (2012, for Khvilishchevsky). His music has been performed in Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine.

He is also active in other positions. He has served as composer-in-residence to the Ensemble GAM in Moscow since 2013.

He has lived in Russia since 2007.
