THE LIVING COMPOSERS PROJECT  

Luc Marcel

(b. 1962, Charlemagne, Québec).

Canadian composer of mostly orchestral and chamber works that have been performed in the Americas and Europe.

Mr. Marcel studied composition with Serge Garant and Michel Longtin at the Université de Montréal from 1984–92, where he earned his maîtrise.

Among his honours are a prize in the competition for young composers of SOCAN (1986, for Troie), a prize in the competition for young composers of the CBC (1986, for Détention), a prize in the competition of the ensemble Arraymusic in Toronto (1995, for On the Spot), and First Prize in the competition of the New Music Festival of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (1999, for Pastel).
