Morlock, Jocelyn (b. 1969, St. Boniface, Manitoba). Canadian composer of mostly chamber and vocal works that have been performed in Europe and North America.
Ms. Morlock studied composition with Stephen Chatman, Keith A. Hamel and Nikolai Korndorf at the University of British Columbia, where she earned her doctorate in composition in 2002.
Her honors include a recommended work at the UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers (2002, for Lacrimosa) and First Prize in the emerging composers competition of the Canadian Music Centre Prairie office (2004, for Bird in the Tangled Sky). Her music has been featured at several important festivals, including once at the ISCM World Music Days (1999, Bucharest/Chisinau). She has written works for Arraymusic, Continuum, Ensemble Symposium, the Groundswell concert series, New Music Manitoba, the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, accordionist Joseph Petric, violinist Marc Sabat, the Vancouver New Music Ensemble, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, among other ensembles, orchestras, organizations, and soloists.
