T he Living Composers Project  

Oh, Seung-Ah (b. 1969, Seoul). South Korean composer, now resident in The Netherlands, of mostly chamber and vocal works that have been performed in Asia, Europe and elsewhere.

Ms. Oh studied composition with Doo-young Sung at the Ewha University for Women in Seoul from 1990-96, where she earned her BA and MMus. She then studied electronic music with Scott Wyatt at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1996-97 and has studied composition with Martin Boykan, Eric Chasalow, John Melby, David Rakowski, and Yehudi Wyner at Brandeis University since 1997, where she is working on her PhD. She also studied composition with Louis Andriessen at the Royal Conservatory of Den Haag from 2001-03. In addition, she has attended numerous workshops in The Netherlands and the USA.

Among her honors are the Young-hee Kim Scholarship (1999), the Munzer Fellowship (2000), the Schumann-Ford Scholarship (2001), and a residency at the MacDowell Colony (2003). Her music has been performed in Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, South Korea, and the USA, including at the Gaudeamus Muziekweek (2003).

She is married to the composer Peter Adriaansz.
