Oliveira, César de (b. May 17, 1977, Porto). Portuguese composer of mostly chamber works that have been performed in Europe.
Mr. Oliveira studied composition with Fernando Lapa at the Conservatório de Música do Porto from 1994-97 and with Christopher Bochmann and António Pinho Vargas at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa from 1997-2001. He later studied composition with Klaas de Vries and Peter-Jan Wagemans at the Hogeschool voor Muziek en Dans in Rotterdam in 2003-04. In addition, he has attended masterclasses with Philippe Hurel, Helmut Lachenmann, Emmanuel Nunes, Luis de Pablo, Jorge Peixinho, and Salvatore Sciarrino.
His honors include an honorable mention in the Prémio de Composição Lopes-Graça (2004, for chiarezza lontana, respiro affannoso).
