T he Living Composers Project  

Pflüger, Andreas (b. August 23, 1941, Basel). Swiss composer of mostly stage, orchestral, chamber, and vocal works that have been performed throughout Europe.

Mr. Pflüger is the son of the painter Carl Pflüger-Gotstein. He received his diploma in composition and double bass at the Musikakademie Basel in 1965. He also studied contemporary music privately with Luis de Pablo in Madrid from 1966-68 and attended Darmstadt in the late 1970s, where he encountered Mauricio Kagel, Siegfried Palm, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Iannis Xenakis, among others.

He collaborated with the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon in 1965-66 and with Igor Markevitch in Madrid from 1966-68. He returned to Switzerland in 1968 and took some musical jobs from 1968-75.

He lectured on Swiss music throughout the USA in 1997 and in Argentina and Paraguay in 1998.

He is married to the violinist Katharina Schamböck.

In addition to the works listed below, Mr. Pflüger has composed more than 150 film scores under the name Andy Benedict.
