Poce, Antonio (b. 1950, Ferentino). Italian composer of stage, orchestral, chamber,
choral, and piano works that have been performed throughout Europe.
Mr. Poce initially studied classics,
but then studied composition with Domenico Guaccero and Ennio Morricone and earned a diploma in 1981. He
also attended courses with Salvatore Sciarrino.
He has earned numerous honors, including ones from the V. Bucchi (Rome, 1985), the ICONS (Torino, 1990), the G.B. Viotti (Vercelli, 1991), the ENDAS (Perugia, 1991), and the Città di Udine (2002) competitions. He has also earned the Music Today Composition Award (Tokyo, 1985) and the IBLA Grand Prize (USA, 2002).
Since 1994, he has been artistic
director and organizer of the Europa Festival and in 1997, he founded the
studio HERMES, for the creation of intermedia projects.
Since 1991, he has been a lecturer
in composition at the Conservatorio Licinio Refice in Frosinone and is active
as a choral conductor.
