THE LIVING COMPOSERS PROJECT  

Jirayr Shahrimanyan

(b. 5 February 1988, Yerevan).

Armenian composer of mostly chamber, choral and vocal works that have been performed in Asia, Europe and North America.

Mr. Shahrimanyan studied composition and piano at the Avet Gabrielyan Music School in Yerevan from 1995–2002. He then studied composition and music theory privately with Martun Israelyan in Yerevan in 2003–04 and composition with him at the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan from 2004–12.

Among his honours are co-Second Prize in the competition for vocal music Ghazaros Saryan in Yerevan (2008, for Three Songs), Second Prize in a competition for music for children's chorus in Yerevan (2010) and Special Prize in competition Aram Khachaturian in Yerevan (2011). His music has been performed in Armenia, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, France, the Netherlands, and the USA.
