Stölzel, Ingrid (b. 1971, Karlsruhe). German-born American composer of mostly chamber works that have been performed in the USA.
Ms. Stölzel studied composition with Gerald Kemner and James Mobberley at the Conservatory of Music in Kansas City from 1991-95, where she earned her BMus, and studied composition with Robert Carl and James Sellars at the Hartt School of Music in Connecticut from 1995-97 and there earned her MMus. She has also attended masterclasses with David Del Tredici, Frederic Rzewski, R. Murray Schafer, Tan Dun, Michael Torke, and Joan Tower.
Among her honors are residencies at the Atlantic Center for the Arts (1999) and the Ragdale Foundation (2000), as well as the California EAR Unit residency at Arcosanti (2001-02).
She has served on the board of directors of the newEar Contemporary Music Ensemble in Kansas City since 1997 and as program manager of the Youth Symphony of Kansas City since 2001.
She has lived in the USA since 1991.
