Taglietti, Gabrio (b. December 15, 1955, Cremona). Italian composer of mostly orchestral, chamber and vocal works that have been performed throughout Europe and elsewhere.
Mr. Taglietti studied composition with Davide Anzaghi and Giacomo Manzoni at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan, where he earned his diploma in 1981. He also studied piano with Maria Grazia Bertocchi during this time.
His honors include prizes in the Guido d'Arezzo (1988), Franco Evangelisti (1989), Mario Zafred (1990), and Valentino Caracciolo (1991) competitions. His music has been performed in Argentina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, The Netherlands, and Switzerland.
Mr. Taglietti is also active in other positions. He performs as a pianist with the ensemble Gruppo Musica Insieme di Cremona and organizes the festival Spazionovecento in Cremona. He has translated many musical essays, including the first complete Italian translation of the Scritti critici by Robert Schumann (1990), and arranged the rhythmic version of the libretto for the opera Das verratene Meer by Hans Werner Henze for Teatro alla Scala (1990). In addition, he has translated the complete Thomas Mann-Arnold Schoenberg correspondence (1993), four essays by Theodor W. Adorno (2001) and Il Velo dell'Ordine, the Italian version of Ausgerechnet ich, a book of conversations between Alfred Brendel and Martin Meyer (2003, Adelphi).
He taught the history and techniques of contemporary music at the Scuola di Paleografia Musicale in Cremona in 1993 and has taught composition at the Conservatorio Campiani in Mantova since 1997.
Ricordi publishes most of his music, but Sonzogno publishes Il circo invisibile.
