T he Living Composers Project  

Venrooy, Esther (b. 1974, Rosmalen). Dutch composer, now resident in Belgium, of stage and electroacoustic works that have been performed in Europe; she is also active as a music researcher and saxophonist.

Ms. Venrooy studied saxophone at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem and later studied composition with James Fulkerson as part of a composer-in-residence program at the European Dance Development Center in 1998-99.

She has researched digital sound processing techniques at the Institute of Psychoacoustics and Electronic Music (IPEM) at the University of Ghent since 2000. As a saxophonist, she has primarily played her own works, as well as those by John Cage.
