Verbugt, Eric (b. September 9, 1966, Asten). Dutch composer of mostly chamber and vocal works that have been performed throughout Europe.
Mr. Verbugt studied composition with Henri Delnooz and Robert HP Platz at the Conservatorium van Maastricht from 1984–92 and sonology at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag in 1990–91. In addition, he twice attended the Centre Acanthes in 1989 and 1991, on scholarships, and Darmstadt in 1992 and 2002.
Among his honors are an honorable mention in the Gaudeamus competition (1997, for Bilder [aus dem Novecento]) and a residency at the Villa Concordia in Bamberg (2001–02). He has received commissions from the Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst, pianist Gerard Bouwhuis, percussionist Johan Faber, the Fonds voor de Scheppende Toonkunst, Lantaren/Venster, the province of Limburg, oboist Ernest Rombout, and the Slagwerkgroep Den Haag, among other ensembles, organizations and soloists.
He lectured on composition and novels at Darmstadt in 2004.
