Romanian composer of mostly chamber works that have been performed in Europe.
Ms. Vlad initially studied violin with Cecilia Geantă at the Music High School in Bucharest from 1960–65. She later studied with Tudor Ciortea, Emilia Comișel, Victor Iusceanu, Myriam Marbe, Grete Miletineanu, Ștefan Niculescu, Ioana Ștefănescu, Aurel Stroe, and Zeno Vancea at the Universitatea Națională de Muzică București, where she graduated in 1973.
Among her honours are a prize from the Universitatea Națională de Muzică București (1972, for Resonance [withdrawn]).
She served as an assistant at the Universitatea Națională de Muzică București from 1973–90 and taught as a professor there from 1990–2002.
She is married to the composer Ulpiu Vlad and is the mother of the composer Roman Vlad.
