T he Living Composers Project  

Vlad, Marina-Marta (b. March 8, 1949, Bucharest). Romanian composer of mostly chamber works that have been performed throughout Europe.

Ms. Vlad initially studied violin with Cecilia Geanta at the Music High School in Bucharest from 1960-65. She later studied with Tudor Ciortea, Emilia Comisel, Victor Iusceanu, Myriam Marbe, Grete Miletineanu, Stefan Niculescu, Ioana Stefanescu, Aurel Stroe, and Zeno Vancea at the National University of Music in Bucharest, where she graduated in 1973.

Her honors include a prize from the National University of Music in Bucharest (1972, for the cantata Resonance [withdrawn]).

She served as an assistant at the National University of Music in Bucharest from 1973-90 and then served as a professor there from 1990-2002.

She is married to the composer Ulpiu Vlad.
